Just like everything else, it is one day at a time and sometimes a moment at a time. YOu should be very proud that instead of taking an easier route you CHOSE to do things that are less easy for you. Hugs to you.Waterrosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07422788758188500128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596522382677342386.post-29291640579432127052008-07-29T14:57:00.000-05:002008-07-29T14:57:00.000-05:00Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. That is not unlike an eating disorder. People trying to "recover" from an ED will ALWAYS have a different view point of this disease than someone in the medical field. I have done plenty of research and reading and counseling ED patients. MY OPINION remains firm.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596522382677342386.post-72551170127004962872008-07-29T14:34:00.000-05:002008-07-29T14:34:00.000-05:00Anon,Um, ouch! I know that I will always have to *manage my recovery* but that is a far far cry from *managing my illness*.

And anorexia is a neurobiological illness, based in a combination of one's genes and life experiences. I have NEVER met someone doing it or continuing their illness, just for "attention." You would do well to read the papers by Walt Kaye, Cynthia Bulik, Daniel LeGrange, and James Lock. Just do a PubMed search- it might help some of the advice you hand out.Carrie Arnoldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02569839838912988783noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596522382677342386.post-9938390117895154492008-07-29T12:35:00.000-05:002008-07-29T12:35:00.000-05:00From a concerned reader who has a medical backgrou...From a concerned reader who has a medical background: Anorexia nervosa causes more deaths than any other psychiatric illness, mostly through suicide and cardiac arrhythmias. This is a chronic illness and must be treated for the rest of your life. You can never be "healed" from an eating disorder. The concern is that people with ED's often become very self-consumed with the attention that they get and come to depend on that. To leave all of the questions, concerns, daily attention, constant notice and interest circling around them is hard to give up. They like the spotlight this disease gives them and will often want to keep the symptoms alive so as not to lose the attention from everyone around them. Be careful.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
