Have you ever been startled

by your own sweet voice 

as you awaken from a dream?

Hauntingly strange

and yet familiar

shattering the silence of sleep

as if you had never forgotten the lyrics 

to your own soul

She 

was 

here

 for

 a

 breath

before slipping beneath the waves

The metallic taste of salt on your tongue

like a symphony before drowning
