Poetry and thoughts on my journey toward healing and unlocking the silence within. Words are magic. Words have the power to heal, so find your voice, and fly
Last night I couldn't help you with your math Tell your teacher you don't understand, I explain. So stupid She will think I'm stupid. No. I'm the one. She will only know that I am stupid. Daddy's not here.
Don't feel bad. It was the "family joke" in our house. My son hit about 6th grade and we could barely help him with his homework. He was in private school and was so ahead of where we were in that grade, and basically learned things we never did.
The bigger joke was the night Dad helped with homework, VERY grouchily as if my SON was not understanding and doing it wrong...and our son came home saying something like, "Yeah I got a D on the homework Dad kept telling me "I" was doing wrong."
I'd say, you and your fam are "normal." They are way ahead of us. That's ok, because then they start teaching us. It's really wonderful once we get over the "But "I" am supposed to be smarter than/teaching you!" :)
Don't feel bad. Every parent goes through this.....I've even seen the future teachers of math have trouble sometimes.....
Here's a website that might help in the future.

Math is one of those things we don't remember because many of the concepts we learn are not necessary for general daily life. It's not a big deal.....kids are learning things so much faster (and EARLIER!) than we did. My son is in Algebra and he's only in 8th grade. It's crazy.
Although I’m not defined by these labels, here is a bit about myself. I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I am a writer, and poet who teaches yoga for a living. I mainly teach in therapeutic settings to trauma survivors. I, myself am a childhood rape survivor, and recovering from Anorexia and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I'm learning to be present. Living in the here and now. I'm also learning that I can't change the past, but I am in control of my destiny. I'm taking back my life, taking back my power, and learning to spread my wings and take flight. I like to focus my yoga teaching on body awareness, body acceptance, stress relief, and anxiety. I also teach private clients, so feel free to reach out and book a session at yogagoddess66@gmail.com

Sometimes it isn't worth it to worry too much about what other people will think about you.
All of us readers know that you are an excellent wordsmith, and personally I like words more than numbers myself.

Sunny~Thanks for the website. I will check it out!
Robin~ I agree. Numbers just don't make much sense to me. Oh well, thank goodness that the words seem to!
Lumina~ You are so right. We learn so much more from our children than we can ever teach them!
