If Only

If Only

If only I could awaken everyday
feeling this fine
Simply accepting of this life
Grateful that it is mine
not always grasping for more

What is so much different today?
Afraid that it will slip quietly
into this sparkling sky
but still...I will never know why
for now I want to be alive

Beautiful poem. It is not easy to just be grateful for what is your life. But when you can, you have a much better day. Unfortunately we tend to relate to our past all too often.

Such beautiful words you speak. I have had you on feed. your words speak volumes of the affects of little ones who cannot speak, but are so affected by what happens to them. We all grow up and still live with the emotional pain from childhood. Our bodies do not forget the abuses of the past. Our past is what makes us who we are today, but the difference is we have a choice today, if we are strong enough to make that stand.

Eric, thanks for stopping by, and for the kind compliment:)

Chronic Chick Talk, I visit your blog often also, and wish you the best of luck in battling your Lupus. My step-dad's mother also struggled with this disease for many years, so I know how much you are suffering. Thank you for all of your kind words. Take care!

I like this poem and sometimes I really wake up feeling like I am really glad to be alive and like you other days I don't feel as joyful. I get influenced a lot by the weather.

It's days like this that get us through days the opposite of this. May the kindness of the moment remain with you long after it has passed.

Having gone over your past poems on this front page, I am glad (i.e. extremely happy for you) to have read this particular one. Be blessed. Cheers.
