I've been awake since 4:00 a.m., and I think it is because I'm excited about painting our bedroom. Yesterday my mom and I went to Lowe's to buy paint, so I'm ready to get started! We also went to Hobby Lobby, and all of their wall decor was 50% off, so my mom bought me a beautiful painting of an Italian countryside. It will be perfect above our bed, and will also remind us of our trip to Italy, and how much we need to return.
It feels so good to have my house clean and organized, and fresh paint will make everything even better. I actually find painting to be very relaxing. We are also painting the boys bedrooms, two bathrooms, the hallway, and the basement. I should be good and relaxed by the time we are through!

Yay for home improvement! I love it. I have to admit though...Scott has done most of the wallpaper stripping. :) I plan to paint though, so it's not too terrible. You definitely have to show pics of the new rooms!!! How funny that we are both painting at the same time!!! Great minds think alike I guess! :) Love ya.

I’m at the point in my life where I know what I want, I know where I’m going, and I’m also clear about who I don’t want around me. I am noticing that I’ve been heading in the direction of validating myself more often which has increased my confidence. This seems somewhat strange, because my belief was that the more outside validation I collected, the more confident I would become. What a colossal mind fuck!

45’s Hellish 4+ years= Anxiety

I wrote a post here about the recent presidential election. I composed it before we knew the outcome, and was so anxious, which is often when I write. I never published it. I knew things were going to be bad, but never dreamed the insurrection on January 6th would be one of the outcomes of 45’s hellish 4 years in office. I actually think the day he was sworn in is when my anxiety started to spiral. I started to feel increasingly unsafe, and I’m guessing that many trauma survivors would agree. Hell, not only trauma survivors, but minorities in general.  Last year at the beginning of the pandemic, the anxiety that I’ve always struggled with ramped up to disproportionately high levels. I had a horrible panic attack and dissociative episode that landed me in the hospital. I had been off of all psychiatric medications for at least 7 years, but made the choice to resume an antidepressant.
