This Mask I Wear

This Mask I Wear

Only revealed
in shadow
with steady gaze
the bare reflection
guarded
flesh
pale and colorless
vacant eyes
fake a smile
and pretend
focus on
the application
fingers dipped
in shimmers
of light
paint, gloss,
to hide
the features
covered
and lost
in the mirror
