Now Is Simply Beautiful

Image
I am wide awake, when I should be sleeping, but my mind cannot rest, and my heart is racing madly. I'm out of my routine I suppose, and life is buzzing loudly; insistant that I sit up and take notice. I'm so alive that it feels as if an electric current is running throughout my body, and it is not entirely pleasant. Changes are happening all around me, and with change comes a certain amount of discomfort. These changes are everything I've dreamt of, and it feels so unreal at times to believe that I can even have these things that I've wanted. I'm beginning to teach some yoga classes at a couple of studios in town, and it is amazing to me to love it as much as I hoped I would. I wasn't sure... I mean, I love my yoga practice, but there is a difference between practicing and teaching. A large portion of recovery for me has been sharing my journey with other people who are struggling to find their way, and that has mainly been sharing my story through writin...

Summer Plans And Goals

As this school year winds down, it seems that the days get busier, and the kids that I work with are thrown a bit off kilter. Their routines get shaken up, and children with autism don't do well with change most of the time. The next two weeks are going to feel long. I wish that I was going to be off for the entire summer, but I went ahead and signed on to work summer school. My incentive is being able to afford a new laptop. I really want to focus this summer on moving my mind and body away from the eating disorder. Yoga has propelled me forward, and I'm improving in so many ways, but there is still so much work to do. The weather is warming up, the yoga clothes, and summer clothes in general are more revealing of my body, and that has made me self conscious and critical of myself. Today was a bad body image day, w...

Sam Blogged At Home

Image
Last Friday was the last day of summer school, and I really didn't think that Sam would work on his blog outside of school, although I hoped that he would. Yesterday, I stopped by his site out of curiosity, and was so thrilled to see a new post on wildebeests! When I worked out the task analysis on how to post a blog, it came out to eighteen steps that he had to follow, including opening a new tab for photobucket , finding a picture, and copying and pasting the HTML code into his post. By the end of summer school, he could remember everything without having to look at his instruction sheet. I'm so excited that he is able to do it on his own, and that he has acquired a new leisure activity that he can also do at home.
