An Unsung Lullaby

The bees swarm
outside of your window
where the crib stands empty
Clinging to the dream of you
unborn sweetness
wrapped inside the silence of sleep
tears of sorrowful loss

Awakening to find damp cheeks
achingly empty arms
outstretched in the darkness

unborn soul
Reaching toward the dream of you
until the buzzing fades away
